Crazy skies

We had intense storms yesterday in St. Louis, with tornado sirens sounding for about an hour or so. After the storms passed, there was a brief period of intense sunlight and huge, puffy clouds. I took the following shots using different lenses on my Hipstamatic camera -- and got dramatically different results:

My most interesting photos

I'm proud to show off what Flickr thinks are my most interesting photos. There is an algorithm that Flickr uses, and while the details of the algorithm aren't published, it has something to do with the number of people who have clicked to see a photo larger, commented on a photo, marked a photo as a "favorite," added a photo to a gallery that they manage -- and more things, such as how people stumble upon a given photo.

In any regard, here are my most interesting photos, updated each day by Flickr. And the photo shown above, taken in the last month, is the #1 most interesting photo of mine according to Flickr.

Self-portraits

A couple of recent self-portraits. The first was from a few weeks ago, right after having gotten caught in a downpour during a dog walk with Sara in The Loop. The rain stopped and the sun came out. Reflections in the puddles were stunning! The sun was also shining in the second photo, taken last Saturday, with Oliver joining me in my self-portrait.

Hip birthday party

My nephew Willie's 10th birthday party was Sunday, and I had fun taking photos -- using the Hipstamatic camera app on my iPhone. I also took some photos with my Nikon D40, but relatively speaking, they weren't nearly as interesting!

I'm at the Apple Store right now, typing this on an iPad. And all I can say is that Newsweek definitely gets it right!

Warmth and spring color

It was a beautiful day in St. Louis on this Thursday before Easter, with a high around 88! Late this afternoon, the dogs and I walked over to a nearby park where I took the following photos of some spring color (using the Hipstamatic camera app on the iPhone):
