Been trying to get out to see your top ten list. Quite a contrast between "Knocked Up" and "Into the Wild." Saw 'The Kite Runner" last Sunday but opted for the lightest of movies this week..."Fools Gold." Never going to make a top ten list but it's good for a gloomy Sunday in Michigan. Ever seen "Eraserhead?" I saw it about 30 years ago and thought it was terrible but have seen references and posters for it all these years in the strangest places. The Oscars are on now....it's good to see clips of past shows and the stars in their younger days.
I know what you mean. There are times when the most serious of movies just will not do! And I've also thought that lighter movies don't get the attention that more-serious ones do.
Never have seen Eraserhead. There are tons of older movies I've never seen...
It's so hard to separate the movie from the situation in which you are seeing the movie. I really disliked The Departed when I saw it at the movies, and was really disappointed when it won the Oscar last year, but then saw it on HBO a few months ago and really liked it.
Just saw the Coen brothers win the Oscar for Best Screenplay Adaptation... truly undeserved, as it took reading accounts from folks who have read the book No Country for Old Men to understand the last 30 minutes of that movie...
